Brief Guide – What is a Mental Health Act

Heads Counts’s partners at Research in Practice for Adults (RiPfA – https://www.ripfa.org.uk) would like help & experience to develop a brief guide to assessment under the Mental Health Act (MHA).
RiPfA have provided a short survey to ensure that their brief guide to MHA assessment reflects the views of people who have experience of mental health services.
The guide will include:

  • A description of what MHA assessment is
  • An explanation of how MHA assessment works
  • Practical advice for those being assessed and the people who are important to them

The guide is being developed for use by individuals assessed under the MHA, their friends and relatives. It is therefore important that the views of people who have experienced MHA assessment inform the style, content and structure of the guide.
