Understanding Self-Harm Course – Plymouth & District Mind

Plymouth & District Mind will be running a course on Monday 17th June between 10:00 – 16:00 on understanding self-harm more widely.

Topics covered include:

  • Definitions (of self-harm)
  • History (of self-harm)
  • Psychology (of self-harm)
  • Why people self-harm
  • How to help people who are using self-harm as coping strategy

The course is suitable for anyone wanting to better understand self-harm; health and social care professionals, staff in other statutory and voluntary organisations, as well as friends, family and carers. 

It may also be of use to people who have self-harmed, or who want to understand this. Please note: the content of the course may be triggering to those currently, or recently self-harming.
